Enrollment checklist for New students-Fall 2008
This checklist is invalid after 8/22/2008.
This checklist provides an overview of the steps necessary to enroll at the Lawrence
campus for the Fall 2008 semester if you did not take classes at the Lawrence
campus in the Spring 2008 semester. If you were enrolled for the Fall 2008 semester
but withdrew from all of your classes before the first day of classes, you
must also follow these steps. If you have questions you may contact the Student Records

- Review the general enrollment checklist.
This checklist contains information common to main, new, readmitted,
late enrollment and information on canceling your enrollment.
- Be admitted to the University. If you did not take classes in the Spring 2008
semester at the University of Kansas you must be admitted or readmitted for the
Fall 2008 semester to enroll. For admission information contact the following:
Undergraduate:

be submitted by the published deadline on the website.

Readmission Undergraduate Students: The application must be
submitted by August 7, 2008. If you had been dismissed by KU, then you should plan to apply one month prior
to the deadline. To apply go to the Office of Admissions and Scholarships
website and click on Apply online.
Non-Degree Seeking Undergraduate Students: Admission procedures are based on the courses you wish to take. See
undergraduate or graduate information for courses. Special regulations governing your admission and enrollment may apply.
Ask about these when asking about admission procedures.

There is a $30 application fee and the application must be submitted by August 21, 2008. You may apply online through August 7. Contact the Office of Admissions and Scholarships for more information.
Graduate: Contact the Graduate Division of the school offering your
major or the courses in which you seek to enroll. Write to the department
c/o The University of Kansas, Lawrence KS 66045 or call (785) 864-2700.
English as a Second Language: Applied English Center, 204 Lippincott Hall, (785) 864-4606.
- Meet with your advisor to prepare your schedule.
Be sure to list alternate classes in case there are problems with your first choices.

- If your first language is not English, visit the Applied English Center (AEC), 204 Lippincott Hall. All students whose
first language is not English who have not been cleared by the Applied English Center must visit the Applied English Center before enrollment.
Students will not be enrolling online; students will be using the
Course Selection Form. You are required to take the English Proficiency Test unless excused in writing by the staff of the AEC.
The test may be taken only once in August. Students should report to the AEC as soon as possible to sign up to take the examination. Tests begin on August 14, 2008 and are offered at several times. Students must sign up 24 hours in advance of their test. Students who do not pass the test are required to enroll in AEC courses every semester until they attain the level of proficiency required for full-time University courses. To discuss questions concerning your language proficiency go to 204 Lippincott Hall.
- Sign up for New Student Orientation (Undergraduate students and
International students only). Information regarding registration will be mailed
once you are admitted or readmitted. Undergraduate students may sign up for New
Student Orientation online at: www.orientation.ku.edu/.
You will need your KU Online ID and password to register. International students may register
online at
www.ku.edu/~issfacts. During your Orientation session you will be given
specific instructions that replace steps 7 and 8 listed here. Attend your
Orientation session and then skip to step 9 on this checklist.
- If you are an International Student you must report to one of the Check-in and
Information Sessions. Bring all of your travel documents. Contact the Office of
International Student and Scholar Services, 2 Strong Hall, (785) 864-3617 for times

- Establish your KU Online ID
Readmitted students: If you have had an online ID previously, change your online ID password at
www.ku.edu/computing/password.
To establish a new online ID, go to KU Online ID.
You may perform this step following the same time line as enrolling in step 8.
- Go to the Enroll & Pay system.
- Sign in under the "Lawrence/Edwards Campus Students & Faculty " using your KU Online ID.
- Clear any holds listed and update your address information. Navigation information can be found in the
Enroll & Pay tutorial.
It is recommended that you use the following when accessing the Enroll and Pay system:
Explorer 5.5 or above for Windows users, Explorer 5 or above for Mac users; Netscape is not recommended.
- Enroll at the dates and times listed.
Undergraduates
- Orientation Participants(must preregister for Orientation)/
New/Transfer and International Students: You will be given instructions during
orientation. Orientation is your first enrollment opportunity.
- New/Transfer/International/ who missed Orientation, and New Non-Degree Students:
You may enroll
Aug 15-22.*
- Readmitted:
By appointment during continuing student enrollment (see
continuing instructions);
Graduates
- New/Transfer:
You may enroll from the date your account is activated for enrollment. Your account should be active as
of April 24, 2008 or the day
you receive your admission letter, whichever is later. You may enroll from this date until
August 22, 2008.*
- Readmitted/Updated: By appointment during
continuing student enrollment.*
*CAUTION: A late enrollment fee will be assessed for any enrollments performed after August 20, 2008.
The fees will be: $75 from August 21 - 27; $150 thereafter.
- If you enroll on or before July 20, 2008, pay your tuition and fees by 4PM on
August 15, 2008 to avoid late payment fees.
If you enroll between July 21 and August 20, 2008, pay your tuition and fees by
4 PM on September 15, 2008 to avoid late
payment fees.

fees, Tuition Management Services (TMS), and due dates.
- The last day to enroll in TMS for the spring semester is August 15, 2008. Enrollment in TMS means you must pay the appropriate number of
payments as determined by the plan you select along with the $40 TMS fee to TMS by your due date.

- If you have not paid your account in full by the 15th of the month following your due date,
you will be assessed another non-refundable $100 late payment fee. Thereafter, a 1.5% default charge will be assessed
to all unpaid tuition and fee charges on your account on the 15th of each month until those charges are paid in full.
You will not be able to enroll in future semesters or receive a transcript until all charges are paid on your account.
- International students: You must purchase mandatory health insurance or verify pre-existing
adequate coverage by August 31, 2008.
International students who do not have a pre-existing coverage waiver may purchase the KU International Student Plan either (1) on-line with credit card directly from Student Assurance Services (SAS) at https://www.sas-mn.com/enronline/enronline1.php?schoolid=kansas or (2) by presenting a check payable to SAS for the appropriate amount at Carruth O'Leary, Room 20.
