General Enrollment checklist - Summer 2008

This checklist provides an overview of the common steps necessary to enroll at the Lawrence campus for the Summer 2008 semester.

  1. Clear any enrollment holds. Follow the instructions noted on the Enroll & Pay system.
  2. Meet with your advisor to prepare your schedule. Be sure to list alternate classes in case there are problems with your first choices. Advising information:

    Continuing Student Advising
    New Student Advising
    Readmitted Student Advising
    Late Enrollment Advising

International students and citizens whose first language is not English must also see the AEC office, 204 Lippincott Hall for further enrollment instructions. If you attend New Student Orientation, you will be advised during the program.

Be sure you obtain your advisor's release prior to leaving your appointment if a release is required.

  3. If you want to exceed the maximum number of hours allowed by your school, you must obtain permission from your school on your schedule change form. Any hours added over your maximum must be completed offline at the Student Records Center, 151 Strong Hall. All students must have the Dean's approval for excess hours. See the maximum hours chart for maximum hour limits.
  4. Obtain Special Permission/Approval Codes if necessary. These courses are displayed as Instructor consent or Department consent. Permission codes are available from the instructor or department (depending upon the type of approval required).
  5. Check for Class Availability. Class availability may be checked at : www.opensections.ku.edu/, or in the Schedule of Classes in the Enroll and Pay system. If a class is closed but you have permission from the instructor or department to take the class this permission code must be issued by the instructor. (206 Summerfield for Business courses, 201 Stauffer-Flint for Journalism courses).
  6. Submit applications for tuition adjustments, if applicable. Types of tuition adjustments can be found in the tuition and fees section. Applications must be submitted by April 3, 2008 to appear on your tuition bill. The last day to submit applications for all tuition adjustments is July 3, 2008. Forms for applying for special rates can be found on the forms page.
  7. Check your schedule, billing address and assessment for errors. If you note errors with your schedule or billing address, correct these via Enroll and Pay.
If you find an error on your assessment, contact assessment@ku.edu or call (785) 864-4472.
  8. If you need a new or replacement identification card go to the KU Card Center, fourth floor, Kansas Union. Take a valid government-issued photo ID (driver's license, passport, military ID, or state ID) and class schedule. Your official name is printed on the KU Card; thus, the photo ID you present must contain your official name, and it must match your name as it appears in the university student system. Office hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cards cost $10 (new)/$15 (replacement) which will be assessed to your student account.
  9. Add/Drop/Change Sections if needed. Once you have enrolled you may make changes to your schedule online.
Be sure to consult your advisor and/or school regarding changes and obtain permissions as needed. See Approval Requirements for Add/Drop.
CAUTION: The last day to receive a 100% refund/adjustment for an 8 week course is June 2, 2008. Changes in your schedule after this date may result in partial or no refund of tuition. See Refunds/Adjustments for more detail.
  10. If you decide not to attend the University of Kansas in the Summer 2008 and have already completed enrollment you must withdraw from the University prior to May 15, 2008 to ensure that your account is adjusted appropriately. If you withdraw after your tuition deadline, you will still be responsible for paying the late payment fee, if one was assessed.
If you wish to cancel your enrollment prior to June 3, 2008 you may do so online at: www.withdraw.ku.edu.
