Enrollment Certification (Degree Verification)
There are times when students may need documentation from the University of Kansas stating their enrollment status. Usually this is required for purposes related primarily to insurance issues, but there are instances when Enrollment Certification may be necessary for scholarships or military identification.Please use this Enrollment Certification form (pdf).
FERPA (Family Rights & Privacy Act)
Student’s records at the University are generally confidential & protected from disclosure to anyone other than the student. Students may place restrictions on the release of their personal information to public inquiry by submitting a Request to Remove/Place Restrictions on the Release of Information to Public Inquiry Form.Additional details about FERPA are available here.

Grades
Grades are available only to students unless provisions have been made otherwise. Students may fill out a form allowing their parents, guardians, or other specified parties to view their personal information if they so desire. A Release of Information form can be found here, or in Room 151 Strong Hall on the Lawrence campus.
Graduation
To graduate at KU, students must complete an on-line application for graduation. This generally begins the final graduation audit processes in most schools.- To apply for graduation undergraduates must have completed 90 credit hours. Graduate and Law students may complete at any time they feel they are ready to graduate.
- There is a deadline for completing the on-line application, as well as for meeting all requirements.

Application for degree (AFD)
- Most students can apply to graduate online through the Enroll & Pay website. This service is available to all students.

Caps and Gowns
There are many places a cap and gown set may be purchased, both around Lawrence and online, although the KU Bookstores recommends that caps and gowns be purchased through them. Students should look for mailings about Grad Fairs and ads in the newspapers in the spring.
Commencement

Degrees
Degrees are awarded three times a year to undergraduate and law students who have met all requirements by the last day of final examinations for each of the three terms: fall semester, spring semester and summer session. Degrees are awarded three times a year, May, August and December, to graduate students who have met all the requirements as of the date specified by the Graduate School and published in the Graduate Catalog.
Diplomas
- Diplomas are available to pick up approximately 2 ½ months after graduation. Photo identification is required when picking up a diploma.
- Diplomas may be picked up by a relative, friend, associate, etc., with permission of the graduate.
- Replacement diplomas can be ordered through our diploma ordering process.
- Diplomas can be mailed to Edwards Campus for pick up by calling the Office of the University Registrar at (785) 864-4423.
